Over
the year Longdown has been a source of inspiration for
many thousands of school children and they hope to be
able to continue this for many more years.
The
objectives at Longdown are to provide all visitors with
the opportunity to meet lots of friendly farm animals.
They can hold a chick, bottle-feed calves and lambs,
brush the minature ponies, watch the milking and get
an insight into how a modern farm is managed. Adults
can try their hand at being a farmer for the day (this
must be pre-booked).
A
free fully guided tour is arranged for every group of
school children visiting the farm. This is tailored
to suit the age group and the ability of the children
and lasts between 2 - 2.30 hours. School visits must
be pre-booked.
The
costs involved for school visits are £2.95 per
child in a group of 15 or more, with 1 free adult per
10 children and additional adults at £3.95.
Prices
for the general public are £4.30 for adults and
£3.00 for children - aged 3-14 years.
Longdown
Activity Farm will be open from
31 March - 28 October 2001 and will be taking pre-booked
school groups from the beginning of March.
Longdown
has a play area, picnic area, gift shop and washing
facilities throughout the farm. Most areas have access
for the disabled.
