Minstead
Study Centre, offers accommodation for 30 Primary age
children in two bright centrally heated dormitories.
It is situated in the New Forest and occupies a prime
site for the study of a wide range of habitats in an
area of outstanding natural beauty.
The
centre grounds have been developed to provide a number
of unique features. These include an extensive organic
vegetable and herb garden, miz-maze, willow tunnel,
ponds, astronomical circle, armillary and even a Celtic
roundhouse.
Diverse
exciting learning experiences are provided by the 2
qualified teachers on-site. These range from lunar modelling,
animating, collecting eggs, spinning wool to organic
gardening and making compost heaps. Many I.C.T. opportunities
are available, including use of the digital camera to
make power-point presentations, data capture through
Loggit and tracking journeys using the G.P.S.
The
education programmes are tailor made to match any programme
of study required by an individual school. We will take
any age group on a day visit, however, the residential
programmes are only open to KS1 and KS 2 children.
The
ethos at the Centre is to promote respect for all living
things and our practice lays strong emphasis on children
working well together.
