Introduction:

The Privett Centre is a picturesque Victorian school and schoolhouse in a unique rural setting converted to provide comfortable short stay residential and classroom accommodation for children and young people in education.

It has charitable status and is supported by Hampshire County Council’s Outdoor Service.

The Centre is designed to accommodate, at low cost, small to medium sized groups who prefer the solo occupation of an educational centre. Our visiting groups come from the smaller primary schools, and mainstream schools and special schools in Hampshire who have designated study groups who derive particular benefit from out-of-school education and a residential experience in the countryside. The Centre sleeps 18 students mainly in small bedrooms; there are 2 single rooms for accompanying staff. Currently self-catering, housekeeping services are planned as part of the Centre’s development in 2002.

Located in an attractive and peaceful hamlet 9km west of Petersfield, 17km south of Alton and 32km from Basingstoke, the Centre is well positioned for day visits to places of interest. The Centre is staffed by the Centre Manager who can coordinate a programme of local educational and adventurous activities tailored to meet the requirements of your group. On site, the Centre has a large central room and several smaller rooms for group work, a playground and small enclosed paddock.

Available for weekday, weekend and day use all year, the Privett Centre is used as a base for supporting curriculum and PSE work taking place in schools:-
