About the Education Programme at Wellington Country Park:

This consists of three main activities designed to explore the diverse environments offered by the park:-

Minibeast Safari - have a closer look at the creepy crawlies that inhabit our woodland floor

Woodland Adventure - "take a walk on the wild side" and try to spot some deer

Pond Dipping - investigate the creatures and plants which live in the underwater world of the pond.

These sessions are led by our Education Warden and each last for about one hour and a quarter. They are designed to be enjoyable for the children and are tailored to suit the ages and needs of each particular group. They are very practical activities, which require the assistance of the accompanying teachers and helpers (this is fun and no prior knowledge is required!). We therefore recommend a ratio of at least on helper to each group of six children. We now also have a Lakeside Education Hut, which groups can make their base for the day - this is very useful in bad weather!

Pre-booking of educational activities is essential and these should be made directly with the Education Warden. The Education Warden is also happy to discuss individual programmes for all age ranges.

Groups can also have a self-led FUNDAY AT THE PARK without the services of the Warden. This is probably more appropriate for pre-school groups.

Identification Guides are supplied on the activities and the Park Booklets are available for purchase at 50p is required.
